He investigated the fatal Oso landslide in northern Washington State, and submitted a paper to Science. It was rejected in less than 36 hours, which means that it was never sent out to any reviewers. Someone in the journal's editorial clique made a flash decision that this paper didn't have the ZING to attract attention. <br /><br />As "Dr. Oz" famously said, it lacked the "wow factor."<br /><br />In case it isn't obvious, this is emphatically NOT the way science is supposed to work.
