Pants on Fire # 10: Only a Feminist Would Ask...

The Lie: Only a feminist would ask the presidential candidates about equal pay for women, as Katherine Fenton did in Tuesday night's debate.

The Truth: Katherine Fenton, who says she's still undecided after the debate, also says she's not a feminist.

Here's what she asked:  “In what new ways do you intend to rectify inequalities in the workplace? Specifically regarding females making only 72 percent of what their male counterparts earn.”

She told an interviewer the day after the debate, "I’m a 24-year-old woman that lives in the United States and feels like I should be treated the same as anyone else. That makes me a normal human being.”

Madame L thinks it's pretty obvious you don't have to be a "feminist" (or "feminazi" or any of those other Rush Limbaugh epithets) to be concerned about this issue. Madame L hopes that ALL of her Dear Readers, whether they are men or women, whether they have sisters, daughters, nieces, or granddaughters, are concerned about this.
