Pants on Fire # 6: The Obama Administration "Changed the Numbers" on Unemployment

The Lie, as repeated by Jack Welch, Rep. Allen West, and most everyone at Fox News and the whole right-wing conspiracy circus: 

"Those Chicago guys" have somehow "cooked the books," changing the September numbers released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics to make it look like the unemployment numbers have gone down.

The Truth: The Bureau of Labor Statistics is, and always has been, freakishly careful with its monthly unemployment report, so much so that the offices where the report is compiled are not even cleaned when the report is being prepared. Here's Jonathan Karl of ABC News reporting on the subject:

Also, if the Obama administration wanted the unemployment numbers to look good, why would they stick with that 7.8% number, a mild continuation of a four-year downward trend?
